Spine injuries in the wilderness mountain environment present many challenges in both recognition and treatment.  This lecture will help you decide when and how to apply spinal motion restriction (backboarding) to a patient in the wilderness and the transport considerations you must then face.

Objectives:
1)    Describe spine anatomy and injuries
2)    Determine who has a spinal injury
3)    How/When to ‘clear a spine’
4)    Wilderness care and transport
