Taking Combat Medicine to the EMS and Wilderness Settings (1 hour)

Dr. Smith’s experiences as an Army Reserve physician in Iraq have given him a new look at medical care in a different austere environment.  Now he returns to his home in Jackson, WY to apply these new experiences in the Rural EMS and Wilderness Medicine setting.  This presentation will discuss what combat medicine skills also make a difference in the wilderness setting.

Objectives:

1) Briefly describe military Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC).

2) How to apply what we learn between austere environments.

3) Discuss products and protocols that should be adopted into EMS and Wilderness patient care.
