Taking Combat Medicine to the Wilderness (1 hour) – 1:30 pm

Dr. Smith’s experiences as an Army Reserve physician in Iraq have given him a new look at medical care in a different austere environment.  Now he returns to his home in Jackson, WY to apply these new experiences in the Mountain Wilderness Medicine setting.  This presentation will discuss what combat medicine skills also make a difference in the wilderness setting.

Objectives:
1) Briefly describe military casualty care
2) How to apply what we learn between austere environments
3) What military lessons learned should be adopted into Wilderness Medicine
